Blogrimage Day 1

So, I joined this group called “30 day Blogrimage”. A blogrimage is a blogging pilgrimage. A pilgrimage is in religion and spirituality, a long journey or search of great moral significance. So what I am going to blog about is things that I hear daily that pertains to God or Christianity in any way. I will either write about what I hear or see randomly as I go through my day, or post a picture, or anything of that sort.

I will start off by writing that this morning I was watching Destination Truth. It is a tv show on the sci-fi channel. Here is the description of what the show is about: “Led by intrepid world-adventurer Josh Gates, each episode of Destination Truth takes viewers on a trek across the globe as Josh investigates stories of the unexplained. Accompanied by his small crew, Josh dives into the local cultures, and searches for clues to the existence of strange creatures, and paranormal phenomena.”

In one of the shows they were looking for this dragon-like thing in Africa and another episode they were hearing voices coming from the outside of Australia saying things like “help me” and stuff like that. I thought to myself that these people were just hearing things or trying to make something that it isn’t and it is not possible for it to be a person that is haunting them because people either go to heaven or hell and there is no in between. I then hypothesized that the haunting that they are hearing are from their imagination or its demons playing tricks on them to make them believe it is people from the dead.

Another thing that happened today was I showing one of my friends a Youtube video of this video called “A letter from hell”. It’s about this fictitious character that dies and goes to hell and writes a letter to his Christian friend. He writes to him what is happening to him and that he is mad at his friend for not telling him about Jesus. I think it’s a really great video for Christians to watch because it should remind Christians to spread the Gospel and why they should. Here is the video:

The reason I am mentioning this video is because I read one of the comments that was written for this video and it is this… “wow. so this guy josh goes to hell jst because he didnt know about jesus? what a load of crap. his friend zack should be the one burning in hell. i dnt even believe in heaven or hell. my christian friend sent this to me. an this just makes me think that this religion is based mostly on fear. i dnt mean to offend anyone who believes in god tho. i respect ur religion.”

After I read that comment I thought to myself that a Christian’s first approach should not be to show this video to an unbeliever. The reason I believe this is because an unbeliever doesn’t fully understand the heaven and hell idea. They don’t believe that they will go to hell and believe that they are good people. What I believe needs to be preached first is how great God’s love is. So much as to show that God’s love is greater than peoples love. Everybody always wants more love and what better way than to express that God is love. After they have grasped God’s love then they need to understand that unbelievers will go to hell and that they need Jesus to be saved.

One last thing that I experienced today is I was talking to a friend from my church today and he was talking about this one sermon that was being preached about the Book Of Revelations. The pastor was speaking about Revelations 4 and 5. He talked about how there are these creatures with eyes and horns in heaven that worship God and also that there are 24 elders sitting on thrones that are surrounding the one throne that God was sitting on. He mentioned that scholars and other people have tried to figure out what the creatures were and who they 24 elders were, and that is kind of a problem. It is good to try to think about the small and trivial things, but the big picture of it all in this story is that God is in the middle of the elders and that the creatures are worshiping God.
